On Declaring the New Calendarists graceless and schismatic...

In spite of the cruel persecution that the innovating Church has organized against us, we avoided, at the beginning, out of respect for the significance of the [autocephalous Greek] Church, to pronounce her schismatic in an ecclesiastical encyclical, at the same time that she declared us to be schismatics in court, condemning our bishops of Megara and Diavleia, in order to justify their decision to depose them. But when we saw that the ruling Synod had decided, contrary to all the holy canons and the age-old practice of the Church, to consider the Mysteries of us, the true Orthodox, to be invalid, then we, too, in defense issued this encyclical [of 1950], so as to calm the troubled conscience of our flock, and not for the sake of acquiring the property of the monastery in Keratea…
