A reminder that saints can disagree and even be hostile to one another...

ST. IOANNIKIOS THE GREAT ON THE STUDITES...

When the man said farewell and departed, lo and behold, the Studites who were followers of [St] Athanasios [the Confessor] and [St] Naukratios [the Studite] arrived. It is the habit of these men to stir up trouble and to shake up not only the Church of God, but also everyone who is dedicated to God; they cleverly wield their venomous tongue in the criticism of the holy ones, and recommend only themselves and proclaim their barking as inspired by God… these people who should be spat upon and hated by all, who are weights on the world, so to speak, graceless creations, fabrications of the Devil…
