[Good Confession], January 1, 1979.
The ecumenists are justifiably
agitated due to the criticism of their forthcoming "Great Council."
For this Council, based on what has taken place thus far, is already judged not
as an Orthodox Synod, but as an anti-council.
According to the criteria of an
Orthodox Council, those who act impiously concerning the faith cannot
participate in it. Yet, they will participate in the so-called Great Council!
It is not possible for those under accusation to sit in an Orthodox Council.
Yet in this one, they will sit together! In an Orthodox Council, it is not
permitted to conceal disagreement on a matter of dogmatic nature. In this one,
the concealment of dogmatic issues will be diligently pursued! It is not proper
in an Orthodox Council to give precedence to anything other than the
examination of the faith. Here, on the contrary, the burning dogmatic issues
are being excluded! In an Orthodox Council, that which seems good to the Holy
Spirit ought to be sought. In the so-called Great Council, the ecumenistic
spirit of the world will prevail! An Orthodox Council does not innovate. The
"Great Council" is being prepared to innovate! An Orthodox Council
must be convened canonically. Regarding the convocation of the "Great Council,"
confusion rather prevails! Every Council is recognized as Orthodox, insofar as
it is accepted by the Orthodox conscience of the Orthodox Catholic Church. The
so-called Great Council is already being judged, truly and justly, on the basis
of its preparations, as an unorthodox council, causing disquiet in the
conscience of the Orthodox Church.
The "Great Council," if
it takes place, will clearly constitute a manner of great apostasy of the
ecumenists from the Orthodox Church.
