Metropolitan Nicholas of Phthiotis of the New Calendar before his departed friend, the late Bishop Kallinikos of the Old Calendar, likewise of Phthiotis!
The brotherly act of visitation
and joint prayer by the local [Official Church] Metropolitan of Phthiotis, Mr.
Nicholas, toward the departed brother Bishop (also of Phthiotis) of the Old
Calendar, the late Kallinikos, was an act worthy of many spiritual
commendations, revealing the Christian character of both men, even within the
same Diocese! [Trans. note: Bishop Kallinikos was the former First Hierarch and founder/member of the so-called "Lamian" faction.]
Let this be seen by the many
other “Christians” in name only, both of the Old Calendar G.O.C. and of the
New, who, at the slightest pretext, hurl accusations—on the one side against
the other, and the other against the one…
One moment, that the mysteries of
the New Calendar are invalid and their children unbaptized, and another, that
all of the Old Calendar are heretics—without even properly knowing what heresy
means! With such things, and others like them, God has turned away from us,
seeing our spitefulness and lack of brotherly love… May our Lord Jesus Christ
enlighten the rest—both of the New and the Old—to come to reunion with love and
to set aside their differences, which Satan skillfully foments…

The funeral service of the Bishop
of the Genuine Orthodox Christians of Phthiotis and Thavmakos, Kallinikos, who
fell asleep full of days, caused a stir throughout all of Greece. His health
had been particularly burdened in recent years.
The funeral service of Bishop
Kallinikos was conducted according to the rites prescribed by the Old
Calendarists (Church of the Genuine Orthodox Christians). The bishop was not in
a coffin but seated upon the metropolitan throne, which was borne by priests.
The procession of the deceased is
in accordance with the tradition prescribed by the Church of the Old
Calendarists.
The body of the late Kallinikos
was visited on Wednesday at the Cathedral Church of Saint Spyridon by the
Metropolitan of Phthiotis, Nicholas, in order to venerate his relics, which had
been laid out for veneration, to attend the funeral service, and to offer
condolences to the relatives of Kallinikos from Mykonos…
As stated by the Holy Metropolis
of Phthiotis, Metropolitan Nicholas was connected to Kallinikos due to their
shared Cycladic origin and because of the regular support offered by the late
bishop to the philanthropic institutions of the Holy Metropolis.
“The late Bishop of the Old
Calendarists, Kallinikos, was a humble and moderate man, and never caused any
problems to the Holy Metropolis of Phthiotis nor personally to His Eminence,
whom he esteemed, and whenever they met, he rendered him the due honor.
“The late bishop had been
ordained deacon and presbyter by the ever-memorable Metropolitan of Syros and
Tinos, the late Philaretos, and he belonged to the brotherhood of the Holy
Monastery of Panagia Tourliani of Mykonos until 1965, at which point he joined
the ranks of the Old Calendarists.”
