Mentally Disturbed Adolescents

Metropolitan Kyprianos [II] of Oropos and Phyle

September 28, 2025 (O.S.)

Shocking is the publication of the research throughout the European region of the World Health Organization, which is coming to light.

"Suicide is the leading cause of death among young people in Europe."

But also for Greece, the data says that one in four youths aged 15 to 19 in Greece suffers from a mental health disorder.

The remarks come from Dr. João Breda, head of the Office of Quality of Care and Patient Safety of the WHO in Athens.

In response to a question about the cause of the phenomenon, he speaks of a complex phenomenon that cannot be attributed to a single factor. However, he is unable to clearly identify the factors that cause it.

And yet, our Church can provide the answer. Our choice to live without God has turned our society into a jungle of wild beasts tearing each other apart.

Without God there is no faith, no hope, no peace, no joy. The Apostle Paul, in the Epistle to the Galatians, points out the fruits of the presence of God in our life: “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance” (Gal. 5:22–23).

Behold, the answer and solution to the problem of mental disorder, tried through the ages.

“He that hath ears to hear, let him hear” (Matt. 11:15).
