Let us not play “where play is not permitted”!...

With deep sorrow we read that at a Conference held in the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America, among other things, the issue of incense for those with allergies and Holy Communion with prosphoron made from gluten-free flour were discussed!

And indeed, on the second day of the Conference, a Divine Liturgy was celebrated, designed “...with various adaptations – including interpretation in sign language, hypoallergenic incense, and Holy Communion adapted to dietary sensitivities...”!

No one disputes the many health problems that afflict people.

One could say that for someone to suffer a little for Christ, it shall be reckoned to him as martyrdom.

However, we are not concerned with the use of “hypoallergenic incense.” The great problem, which touches the bounds of heresy, is the innovation with the prosphoron. That is, will there be churches where either two Divine Liturgies will be celebrated or there will be two Holy Chalices with the label “gluten-free”??? Away with such blasphemy!

A Doctor of Pharmacy, with gluten intolerance, testified with awe that she communes the Body and Blood of Christ without any problem, while she exhibits symptoms when she eats a piece of antidoron, no matter how small it is!

The Body and Blood of Christ are medicine of life and immortality, and only thus are they to be regarded. All else is of the evil one, such as the disposable spoons that had been invented by the head of the said Archdiocese during the period of the coronavirus.

Enough already! Let us not play “where play is not permitted”!…
