O most wondrous holy hierarch
Anthony, our fervent guide and good intercessor before the Lord for all who
honor thy memory and flee unto thee with faith! Look down even now with a
merciful eye upon the scattered sheep of thy flock, for truly thou art the
first founder of the Russian Church exiled from its fatherland among many
nations. Grant holiness unto the pastors, reverence unto the monastics, and
unto all of us the gift of understanding, that our storm-tossed Church may be
strengthened in truth and humility. Above all, impart unto us of the oil of thy
mercy and compassion, that we may learn to bear one another’s burdens, and not
to please ourselves, but to please God and our neighbor for his good unto
edification. While there is yet time to acquire and to labor, we flee unto
thee, who art rich in mercy: grant us of thine oil, for our lamps are going
out, that we may not be numbered with the foolish virgins in the dread hour,
but together with thee may glorify the Lord Jesus Christ, Who suffered for us
and had compassion upon us, with the Father and the Holy Spirit, unto the ages.
Amen.
