The issue of communion with heretics, as well as the subsequent communion with those who commune with them—who by this act of theirs become non-communicants—is the major and urgent issue in today's ecclesiastical life. The ecclesiastical body is dangerously ailing; we are all responsible for the disease, not only those who commune with the heterodox, but also those who commune with the ones who commune with them; the deviation and the transgression resemble communicating vessels, like the pollution of the environment, which is not limited to the one who causes the pollution. By commemorating the patriarchs, archbishops, and bishops in the sacred services, we participate in the ecumenistic apostasy.
