Metropolitan Agafangel, First Hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church Abroad
March 15/28, 2024
The Patriarch of the Moscow
Patriarchate, Kirill Gundyaev, along with the entire so-called "World
Russian People's Council," on these days—March 27, 2024—having
"convened" in the Hall of Church Councils of the Cathedral of Christ
the Savior in Moscow, once again bore witness before God and men to their
criminal Soviet heretical essence, once again blessing the mass murder of
people in Ukraine. And not merely blessing, but blasphemously calling for the
killing of people—including defenseless elderly and children—solely for their
unwillingness to live in the Soviet Union under the dictatorship of the Putin
regime, calling this murder even a "sacred" act for the Moscow
Patriarchate ("a holy war"), stating that:
“The Special
Military Operation is a new stage of the national-liberation struggle of the
Russian people against the criminal Kyiv regime and the collective West
standing behind it, a struggle that has been conducted on the lands of
Southwestern Rus' since 2014. In the course of the SMO, the Russian people,
with weapons in hand, are defending their life, freedom, statehood,
civilizational, religious, national, and cultural identity, as well as their
right to live on their own land within the borders of a united Russian state. From
a spiritual and moral point of view, the Special Military Operation is a Holy
War, in which Russia and its people, defending the unified spiritual space of
Holy Rus', are fulfilling the mission of the 'Restrainer,' who protects the
world from the onslaught of globalism and the triumph of the West, which has
fallen into satanism.
After the
completion of the SMO, the entire territory of present-day Ukraine must enter
the zone of Russia's exclusive influence. The possibility of the existence in
this territory of a Russophobic political regime hostile to Russia and its
people, as well as of a political regime governed from a foreign center hostile
to Russia, must be completely eliminated.”

Thus, the Moscow
Patriarchate—unrepentant and not freed from its communist essence, continuing
to preserve and profess the materialistic doctrines of its founder, the
communist dictator Joseph Stalin—has confirmed that it remains to this day a
heretical community serving the God-fighting, Kremlin-based, Soviet
anti-Russian regime. At the same time, it attempts, as it has always done, to
present itself as the historical and authentic “Orthodox Russian Church,” which
it is not and never has been since the moment of its creation by communist
ideologues in 1943.
Today, the so-called “Russian
World” has fully transformed from an ordinary Kremlin program for creating a
“pro-Moscow diaspora” into a stable Soviet doctrine of globalism, having
imperceptibly become the official Moscow ideology of worldwide hegemonism (temporarily
replacing the communist doctrine, which remains unacceptable to the rest of the
world for now):
“The Russian World includes all those for whom the Russian [in reality — Soviet
— ed. +M.A.] tradition, the sacred values of Russian [in reality — Soviet]
civilization, and the great Russian [in reality — Soviet] culture are the
highest value and meaning of life.” (Same source as above.)

As we can see, the Moscow
Patriarchate, in the new political situation, now dares to cautiously try on
for itself the status of the "Restrainer," despite the fact that
Soviet churchmen have violated all nine of Christ's Beatitudes and have acted
directly contrary to them. The Lord testifies: blessed are the poor in spirit,
those who mourn (not the proud), the meek, those who hunger and thirst for
righteousness (not those who profess Soviet materialism), the merciful, the
pure in heart, the peacemakers, those who are persecuted for righteousness'
sake and those who are reviled for Christ (not the persecutors of others) (see
Matt. 5:3–11).
Such are Orthodox Christians—not
people dressed in church garments who call for mass killings in service of
political powers.
As long as the Moscow
Patriarchate does not purify itself through repentance for its collaboration
with God-fighters, as long as it does not anathematize the God-fighting
regime—just as the last Orthodox Russian Patriarch Tikhon and the Local Council
of 1917–1918 did—it will remain a heretical satanic community, merely covering
its essence with outward Orthodox ritualism. The same applies to the so-called
Ukrainian Church of the Moscow Patriarchate, consubstantial with the Moscow
false-church—as long as it does not renounce and cleanse itself of its shameful
past, and does not repeat the anathema against the God-fighters and their
collaborators, proclaimed by Patriarch Tikhon and the Local Council of 1918,
and does not fully, without reservations, sever itself from the Moscow
Patriarchate that gave it birth—ceasing all prayerful and Eucharistic communion
with it, and returning to a pure, heresy-free confession of the Orthodox
faith—it will remain a satanic, God-fighting organization, no matter what lies
its “hierarchy” once again uses to disguise itself.
