St. Philaret the New Confessor Recognizes the Priesthood of New Calendar Zealots (1985)

An unpublished letter (note the “Personal / Not for Publication” in the upper right-hand corner) dated October 11/24, 1985, less than a month before St. Philaret fell asleep on Nov. 21, 1985. Addressed to Elder Chrysostomos (Spyrou) of Spetses (+2014).

 

 

Q: What does he say to Fr. Chrysostomos in general?

Three things mainly:

1. He praises him for his Confession

2. He consoles him for his persecutions

3. He recognizes his Priesthood (he had been ordained by a “New Calendarist / Ecumenist”)
